The Brewster family is known as both pioneer homesteaders in Alberta and pioneers within the Canadian Alpaca Industry.  In the mid-80’s when the Brewster Family began raising Alpacas, there were less then thirty animals in Canada.  Their love for these animals prompted Jim, Margaret and their daughters Jolene and Kelly, to work as a family to support the building of this industry. 

The Alpaca industry is rich in history worldwide and developing in North America aided by the passion of its breeders.  The Brewster’s have been on the front lines of this development involving themselves in all aspects of the industry.  Margaret has played an integral role in the screening process.  They have also had the pleasure of being founding and active members of Alpaca Associations.

The Brewster’s went a step further when they sensed the need and importance to market the luxurious end product of Alpacas.  To this end, they opened the Canadian Alpaca Store in 1998 in Banff, Alberta.  This store specialized in designer products and garments made exclusively from the fine fibre produced by these animals.

Throughout their various endeavors, quality has been paramount.  This was the foundation of their breeding program.  Today their select herd of alpacas is run by Daughter and Son-in-Law, Kelly and Aaron Van Ginhoven with their two daughters Sydney and Lily, together they continue there way into the millennium with renewed energy optimism.  There alpacas are helping them start their family and attain their financial and career goals as they build their life together.  As for Margaret and Jim, the alpacas have granted them a serene pasture to live by as they enjoy the gratifying lifestyle they have chosen.
